Dawn stated that the Health and Wellness Expo was very successful. She spoke with many people about CHARACTER COUNTS! and took advantage of the services.
The Coalition discussed plans for CHARACTER COUNTS! Week from October 18 – 24. The Library is hosting a Spiritual Literacy program on October 18 that feature the Center in Bartlett and the Awakening Heart Sangha. Victory Centre is offering a lecture by a former Catholic nun called “My Beliefs” on October 19. Hanover Township is sponsoring a “Life Changes Disabilities Expo” on October 24, and the Coalition is holding its “Movie Matinee” on October at 1:00 pm. Steve has submitted two articles about “People of the Pillars” to the Examiner, but we aren’t sure i they were published. We can display those articles during the week as well. Steve will ask the Village to issues a CHARACTER COUNTS! Week Proclamation at the Board meeting on October 21.

The Coalition reviewed the two Proposals for the Future of the Coalition. Proposal #1 is to “Scale Back Our Involvement” in the community, and Proposal #2 is to “Disband the Formal Coalition.” We received nine Proxy Vote Forms from members who were unable to attend the meeting, and there were six members in attendance out of a total of 20 members. We voted on which of the proposals to adopt, and the vote was 10 – 5 in favor of Proposal #1.
Dawn presented an invoice from Homestead Technologies for $279.99 to renew our website for one year. The Coalition discussed ways to reduce this cost. We decided to contact ASPA Computer Services, which is a Bartlett business that provides website design and hosting for many local groups. Dawn will ask them to submit a proposal to our group. In the meantime, she will contact Homestead about renewing our website service for one month in order to buy us more time.
We also discussed whether the Coalition needs to renew its Post Office box in December. The feeling is that we don’t receive enough mail to justify this expense, and that we could go back to having all mail sent to the Coalition in care of the Bartlett Public Library District.
Our next meeting will be sometime in April, with a location to be determined.
